Every product a MyKade seller shares comes from a verified supplier: a wholesaler, importer or maker that the MyKade team has checked. Sellers find customers; suppliers provide the products. If you run that kind of business, this post explains how supplying works and how to apply.
Who can become a supplier?
MyKade works with three kinds of supplier:
- Wholesalers who hold stock of products and sell in quantity.
- Importers who bring products into Sri Lanka.
- Makers who produce their own goods.
Supplying is invite-only. You can't simply sign up and start listing. Instead, you apply at /suppliers, and the MyKade team reviews your application.
Why invite-only?
Sellers on MyKade share your products with their own friends, families and neighbours. They are putting their name behind every product. If a product is poor, or not as described, the seller's reputation suffers, the parcel may come back, and the seller earns nothing on a returned parcel.
So the checks are there to protect everyone: the customer who buys, the seller who recommends, and the honest suppliers who don't want to be grouped with careless ones.
What the team checks
When you apply, the team checks your documents and your samples. The documents show that your business is real. The samples show what customers will actually receive. Have both ready, and send samples that are exactly the same as what you will supply, not your best piece from the batch.
What makes a good supplier for sellers
Being accepted is the start. Being a supplier sellers love to work with comes from a few things:
Products that suit online selling
Our data from about 5,000 cash-on-delivery orders from online shops shows:
- 9 in 10 items sold cost Rs 1,000–3,000, and 9 in 10 orders were a single item.
- The best-selling categories were home and living, kitchen, car accessories, gadgets and electronics, beauty, and baby products.
- Buyers of everyday items they use up (packaging, cleaning, beauty) reordered about four times as often as gadget buyers.
Accurate photos and descriptions
Sellers use your photos and details to write their captions. If the colour, size or contents don't match, the customer is disappointed. In our data, "not as expected" was 2% of returns. Clear, honest product information keeps that number small.
Room for the seller's profit
Each product shows sellers their price, a suggested selling price and their profit, and there is a maximum selling price so customers are not overcharged. A product priced so tightly that the seller's profit is tiny won't get shared much.
Reliable stock and steady quality
When sellers promote a product, they need it to be available. And every batch should match the samples the team approved, so the hundredth customer gets the same product as the first.
Supplier or own-product seller?
These are two different things at MyKade:
- Verified suppliers provide products that MyKade's sellers share and sell. Apply at /suppliers.
- Own-product sellers want their own online shop for their own products. Their products are not shown to dropshippers. That plan is opening soon; see already make or stock products?
If you want sellers across the island to share your products, supplying is the right path.
How to prepare your application
- Gather your documents about your business.
- Choose the products you'd like to supply, starting with the ones you know sell well.
- Prepare samples that match what you'll actually deliver.
- Write honest product details: size, material, contents, how to use.
- Think about stock: how much you can reliably keep available.
Apply as a supplier
If you are a wholesaler, importer or maker with good products and you'd like sellers across Sri Lanka to share them, apply as a supplier. The team will review your documents and samples and get back to you.
