Selling with one hour a day: a realistic routine

A simple daily and weekly routine for selling on MyKade in about an hour a day, built around when Sri Lankans actually shop.

🚀 Getting started · 3 min read

You don't need to sit on your phone all day to sell online. What you need is a short routine you can keep up, done at the right times. Here is one built around when people in Sri Lanka actually send enquiries.

When people shop

In real Sri Lankan online shops:

  • enquiries peak between 7 and 11 pm, and the busiest hour is 9 pm
  • Sunday brings about 50% more enquiries than other days
  • about half of enquiries turned into orders
  • 3 in 4 of those orders came within a day of the first message, and almost none after 3 days

So the most valuable part of your hour is the evening, and a quick reply matters more than a long one.

The daily hour

Morning: 10 minutes

  • Post one product to your WhatsApp Status, with the ready-made caption or one the AI writes for you.
  • Check the app for any orders that were delivered or are on the way.
  • Reply to anything that came in overnight.

Lunch break: 10 minutes

  • Answer new messages, even briefly: "Yes, it's available. I'll send full details this evening."
  • If you have time, share the same product in one group where selling is allowed.

Evening, between 7 and 10 pm: 40 minutes

This is your main selling time.

  1. Reply to every enquiry from the day. (15 minutes)
  2. Call or message to confirm anyone who wants to order: name, address, a phone number they answer, and the full total with delivery. (10 minutes)
  3. Place the confirmed orders in the app. (5 minutes)
  4. Follow up with people who asked yesterday but didn't decide. (10 minutes)

Here is a follow-up message you can adapt:

Hi [name], just checking if you'd still like the [product]. If I place the order tonight, it should reach you in about 3 days. The total with delivery is Rs [total], and you pay when it arrives.

One polite follow-up is enough. If they say no, thank them and leave it there.

The weekly rhythm

  • Monday to Friday: the daily hour above.
  • Saturday: spend 10 extra minutes choosing what to share on Sunday. Pick your best product of the week.
  • Sunday: the busiest day. Post in the morning and again around 7 pm, and keep the evening free to reply.
  • Once a week: look back. How many shares, how many enquiries, how many orders, how many delivered? Write the four numbers down.

Keep your hour focused

  • Stick to one or two products a week, so you can talk about them well.
  • Save replies you use often (price, delivery time, how to pay) so you aren't typing the same thing again.
  • Don't scroll. Open WhatsApp and the app, do the routine, close them.
  • Let MyKade do the rest. Packing, delivery and collecting money aren't your job.

Is one hour enough for your goal?

That depends on your goal. Open the earnings planner in MyKade Academy, type in a monthly goal, and it shows how many orders and messages a day that means.

As a worked example only: if real data says about half of enquiries become orders, then to get one order a day you would need about two enquiries a day. If one hour gets you there, good. If it doesn't, you can lower the goal, choose a product with a better profit, or give it a little more time on Sundays.

When you are short on time

Some days you won't get the full hour. Then do just two things: reply to everyone who asked, and confirm and place any orders. Skip the posting. An enquiry left unanswered is worth more than a new post.

Make it a habit

An hour a day, done for a few weeks, teaches you more than a whole day done once. Download the MyKade app, set a reminder for 7 pm, and start your first routine tonight.
