Before you place your first order on MyKade, we ask you to verify your identity. Some people find this a bit much for a free app. Here is why we do it, what you need, and how to get it right the first time.
Why we check
It protects your customers. Customers are trusting a seller they found on WhatsApp or Facebook. Knowing every seller is a real, checked person keeps out people who would cheat them.
It protects your money. Your profit can only be withdrawn to the bank account checked during verification. That makes it much harder for anyone else to take what you have earned.
It keeps out fake accounts. Fake sellers place fake orders, and every fake parcel costs delivery and time. Checking identity keeps that down for everyone.
It keeps sellers adults. You must be 18 or older to sell on MyKade.
What you need
- Photos of your NIC, front and back
- A selfie, so we can match your face with your NIC
- Your bank details, for the account where your profit will go
You can sign up with just your mobile number, but you must finish these before you can place an order. Do it on day one, not when a customer is waiting.
Tips for clear NIC photos
- Put the NIC on a flat, dark surface, like a table.
- Use daylight near a window. Turn off the flash, because it makes a white glare on the card.
- Make sure all four corners are in the photo.
- Hold the phone straight above the card, not at an angle.
- Check that you can read every word before you upload. If it's blurry, take it again.
- Photograph the real card, not a photocopy.
Tips for a good selfie
- Face a window or a light, so your face isn't in shadow.
- Take off sunglasses, caps and face masks.
- Use a plain background if you can.
- Look straight at the camera, with your whole face in the frame.
Tips for bank details
- Copy the account number carefully, digit by digit, and check it twice.
- Make sure the bank and branch are right.
- Use an account in your own name, the same name as on your NIC. This makes the check simpler and avoids questions later.
Under 18?
You can't open an account yourself. A parent or guardian can open one in their own name, with their own NIC and bank account.
Keep your details safe
Upload your NIC, selfie and bank details only inside the MyKade app. If anyone messages you on WhatsApp or calls you asking for your NIC photos, a one-time code or your password "for verification", don't send them. Contact MyKade from the app, or email [email protected], if you are unsure.

If something goes wrong
If the check doesn't go through, it's usually something simple, like a blurry photo or a mistyped number. Take the photo again in better light, check the details and send them again. If you're still stuck, reach us on WhatsApp or by phone from the app.
