When you start selling, one question comes up quickly: "How do I actually get my money?" On MyKade, the path is simple, and you never have to touch a customer's money along the way.
The path, in four steps
- The customer pays MyKade. Either cash on delivery (COD), or through a secure payment link that MyKade texts to the customer. With the link they can pay in full or pay an advance.
- The parcel is delivered. MyKade packs it and delivers it island-wide.
- Your profit goes to your wallet. As soon as the parcel is delivered, your profit appears in your MyKade wallet.
- You withdraw to your bank. When your wallet has at least Rs 1,000, you can withdraw to the bank account you verified during your identity check.
Why customers never pay you
This is one of MyKade's firmest rules: customers always pay MyKade, never the seller.
It might seem easier to take a bank transfer from a friend. But it creates problems:
- If a parcel is late or lost, the customer blames you, and you are holding their money.
- If someone says they paid and you can't find it, it becomes your argument.
- Strangers are more willing to order when they know the money goes to a company, not to a person they met online.
So you never hold anyone's money, and nobody can ever say you kept it. If a customer offers to pay you directly, you can reply like this:
Thank you! Payments go to MyKade, not to me, so your money is safe. You can pay cash when the parcel arrives, or I can arrange a secure payment link by text. Which do you prefer?
When you earn nothing
Your profit is paid on delivered parcels. If the customer doesn't accept the parcel and it comes back, you earn nothing on that order.
There is also a return fee to know about. Every seller gets 3 free returns. After that, sellers at the Amber or Red level pay Rs 150 per return. Green sellers get the best terms. This is why confirming each order matters so much. See how to confirm every order.
A worked example
This is only an example to show the arithmetic. Imagine one week where:
- you place 6 orders, each with a profit of Rs 400
- 5 are delivered and 1 comes back
Your wallet receives 5 × Rs 400 = Rs 2,000. The returned order earns nothing. If it was within your 3 free returns, there is no fee.
Since Rs 2,000 is more than the Rs 1,000 minimum, you can withdraw it to your bank.
Now imagine the same week, but you had called every customer first and 6 of 6 were delivered. That is Rs 2,400. Confirming orders is often the easiest way to earn more without selling more.
How long does it take?
In real Sri Lankan online shops, it took about 3 days on average from order to door, and most parcels arrived within 2 days of dispatch. Your profit arrives in your wallet when the parcel is delivered, so the sooner you place a confirmed order, the sooner you see it.
Keep track in the app
Your wallet shows what has come in. It's a good habit to check it once a day:
- Which orders were delivered?
- Which are still on the way?
- Did anything come back? If so, why?
Knowing why parcels come back helps you stop the next one. Read why parcels come back, and how to stop it.
Your bank account matters
You can only withdraw to the bank account checked during your identity verification. Enter it carefully the first time. Tips are in why MyKade checks your identity.
